Wordy Wednesday

Weather

Our summer weather here continues to hold up - I thought there might be some rain today, since there were actually some clouds in the sky, but no. Of course, I'm lucky.

There was a big earthquake in Western Greece on Sunday. In the worst hit villages houses were destroyed, and many of the others have sustained some damage. The quake measured 6.5 Richter, and its epicentre was on the mainland, so there have been a lot of smaller aftershocks, and hundreds of people have been unable or unwilling to sleep in their houses, instead staying in their cars, tents, or going to stay with friends and relatives elsewhere.
Two people died and hundreds were slightly injured.

It's awful that anyone died, but it's also lucky that it happened in the afternoon when a lot of people weren't home. One report showed a massive boulder - as big as two or three people - which had rolled from the top of a hill right into a village, demolishing someone's house on the way.

Then last night I saw the news about the MidWest USA, with pictures of a house being swept into a river. Yes, I feel very lucky with our weather (and sorry for those who are having such a bad time of it)...

Hider in the House

Helena watches a children's TV show that features a supposedly famous personality hiding out in someone's house for a period of time. The idea is that everyone except one of the parents is in on the "game", and must make sure that the hider isn't caught whilst doing various challenges.

So she was fascinated when I told her about the man in Japan. He wondered why he never seemed to have as much food in his fridge as he thought, so put hidden webcams around the place, and when he was out watched them on his mobile. He saw a woman in his house, and it turned out that she'd living in one of his cupboards for a year.

That explains my food situation - it's not that I eat too much after all. Instead, there's probably a woman living in my attic, which is somewhere I never go. And I thought that those noises were birds on the roof...

She obviously doesn't mind hearing Agatha Christie novels read out loud in Greek, or terrible piano playing. Maybe she's deaf.

I don't mind, but it would be nice if once in a while I got home to find my fridge full of food...

Yup. Bad weather times all around. That lake was a man made lake too. The flood insurance is saying they are nt going to pay for damages.
:o(

Maybe she can clean your house too.

That's what I would want a secret hider to do. Forget refilling my fridge, just do the dishes.

I have no clue what I'm going to make for dinner tonight. I didn't take out any chicken or steak... maybe we'll fast food it today.

If we're still alive by tonight since we did have the tomatoes yesterday. ;op

There's not much point having insurance if they won't pay out...

That's a good idea about the cleaning. Maybe I won't wash up for a couple of days and see what happens?

Oh, I've just realised that's what I've done for the last couple of days, but they haven't magically got cleaned :-(

Imagine if you were a secret hider and had the shits from some dodgy tomatoes. That could get interesting... and messy ;-)

Wow, I'm going to show this my blog to my girlfriend to throw some doubt into her mind that I'm NOT, in fact, the one who eats all of her food.

Nice blog. I've bookmarked it. Head over to my pop culture comedy blog if you feel like a little laugh.

Is humidity comsidered bad weather? Cause it's so frippin humid here that it's almost intolerable. People can't leave their houses because of it. We're all shut up, in our air conditioned houses, watching TV and surfing blogs. It's a terrible way to live.

The woman in the cupbord is freaking me out. How can you have a whole other person living in your house and not know it? What if I have more kids that I don't know about?

Now all I have to do is find out why I weigh so much, if it's not the food...

I'll certainly head over to your place. By which I mean blog ;-)

Tracy:

Humidity counts as weather, even if it doesn't demolish houses. I feel sorry for you having to stay in and talk to us. All right, I'm selfish and I don't ;-)

Maybe he doesn't spend much of his time at home. Japan is the place where they have those hotels that cram guests into person-sized holes instead of rooms, so a whole linen cupboard probably seems like a luxury executive suite...

I think you might have noticed if you'd had more kids? Surely?

Now how in the world does a woman live in a man's cupboard for a year and he not know it?!

Doesn't the penis automatically respond by pointing (much like a bird dog) if there is a woman nearby?

Eleventh!

It was so awful today having to watch the guys sweat outside who are renovating our house while I was sitting in the airconditioning. I think I might need therapy after having to suffer through that.

OB:

Maybe she slept whilst he was at work, and went out at night. A bit like "Cox and Box" (one of them works night shifts and one works during the day, so the landlord rents the same room to both of them)...

Or maybe he was wondering why he had a cupboard fetish ;-)

Tracy:

Now I feel doubly sorry for you.

Wow, that's crazy.
She must be really small, so did he kick her out? did they have a picture of her? was she hawt?

Dan:

Both of them are in their fifties, so you might have thought they could hitch up. However, when he realised there was someone in the house he phoned the police and they arrested her, so the wedding might have to wait until she gets out of jail...

well I'm safe there because all of my cupboards are crammed full of the craft hoard, no one could fit anywhere

Jean Knee:

That's terrible. Some poor homeless person is going to be without a (cupboard) roof over their head because of your crafting...
