Bee's Mum Ate My Post
I was going to spend my Saturday doing a great post. Every word would have been spot on, every nuance just the right shade, and every similie would fit like a sock.
But it didn't happen. Not because the dog ate my post. As you know I don't have a dog, and if I did I'd feed it plenty of Dan's patent dog ice cream so that it didn't have any room left for blog posts.
So if it wasn't a ravenous dog, what was it? Well, it's me that's ravenous. It's a shopping day, which means that I don't have a great deal of food in the house - just the usual emergency rations of green beans, pasta, pesto sauce and noodles. I think I've even eaten my backup auxiliary spare only-open-in-the-event-of-a-world-war tin of Chicken curry.
Nevertheless, I might have been able to manage to survive long enough to perfect my post and then get to a supermarket before my weakened body gave in and I wasted away down to a skeleton.
Except that I decided to check out everyone's blogs before starting it. NCS had not one but TWO pictures of cakes/pies. This a serious setback, as it made me even more hungry, and so gave me less time to colour-correct every last nuance. Nevertheless I might have managed, say, a slightly less than perfect post after that.
If I hadn't visited Bee's blog. Bee has a post about her mother. It's not at all silly or humorous, and she wrote it for herself, but Bee writes her best stuff when she's being more serious. Anyway, in the post she mentioned that her mum was planning to have a cheeseburger. Bee's mum sounds great. I can't imaging my mother eating a cheeseburger.
Anyway, as someone who believes that the famous saying should be "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse-sized cheeseburger", the thought drove me over the edge, and destroyed any chance of the perfect post.
I'd love to hang around, but I'm off to get something to eat. See you later.

First! Woohoo!
I like that phrase about the horse sized cheeseburger! I had one earlier today, except mine wasn't made of blogs. I think!
I shudder to think what tinned chicken curry must taste like
Chris:
Just so long as it wasn't made of horses ;-)

I could live on tinned curry, except that it gets a little monotonous. I have it with microwaved rice or with noodles. It comes in different styles - my current favourite is Chicken Tikka Masala. It's amazing what wonderful things you can get in tins...
My mum said that it was the best burger she'd eaten. I made myself you know. (:op
Bee:
I'm glad she enjoyed it. I, on the other hand, never got one - I was so hungry I ended up getting a two-person sized cottage pie microwave meal from the supermarket (supermarket is nearer than Burger King), and then felt rather queasy after eating far too much...
Next time, can you do me one as well, please?
This post was really about nothing was it? Although it did make me hungry......
Dan:
How can you dismiss starvation and cheeseburgers as nothing???
And right now, I'm starving with no real food options in the house...and would love a great cheeseburger!
What is tinned chicken curry?
You all like curry stuff don't you?
I know this because of the many hours spent watching Briget Jones' Diary where they're always talking about curried stuff.
If I go to the grocery when I'm hungry, I come home with my reusable bags filled with what can only be described as a "Munchy Run".
Then a few days later, the hubs is saying "How do we have nothing to cook when you just went to the store?" To which I reply "I don't know but would you like some doritos or a microwave burrito or something?"
If you go to a hamburger joint and say " I can haz cheezburger?' they will stare at you like you are crazy. try it
FADKOG:
Go on, spoil yourself...
Tracy:
Tinned chicken curry is, er, chicken curry in a tin.
They had a poll a while back to discover the nation's favourite food, and found that chicken tikka masala (chicken marinated in something then served in a mild creamy sauce) was now more popular than fish and chips.
It's all to do with the British Empire. When the Brits were running India they got a taste for curry. Then we got lots of immigration from India/Pakistan/Bangladesh some time (1950s? 1960s?), and they opened loads of curry houses. There are now "Indian" dishes which were invented here, in particular Balti cooking.
Brits who spend any time in the US are always complaining that you can't get a decent Indian meal over there. You're definitely missing out...
Jean Knee:
Does what you wrote make sense in American? I could try it at my local place, but they're foreigners of some description, so would probably not notice...
it's LOL speak Brian
where's wordy wednesday? I did pics yesterday so I'm off the hook
Jean Knee:
It's here now. I had some problems with it...
