I've just noticed: Deborah Kerr died on Tuesday aged 86. She was wonderful in The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, as well as An Affair to Remember. I was watching her only a few weeks ago in The Grass is Greener with Cary Grant.

I love an Affair to Remember! It's one of my favorite movies!

I hope she at least had a peaceful death... :(

She had been suffering from Parkinson's disease for years, and came back to the UK from living in Europe so her family could look after her.

The Grass is Greener was made not that long after an Affair to Remember, and it's strange, but in TGIG you just can't imagine Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr being at all in love. They're an English married couple, and a Texan millionaire (Robert Mitchum) appears on the scene and she and DK have this big affair. If I was CG at this point I'd have said "sod her" and let her go and live in Texas (after all, he has got a mad nympho chasing after him), but instead he goes to extreme lengths to try and win her back. Worth a look, if you haven't seen it already.
